What it involves

What does building a new home with Brilliant Builders look like?

Building a new home with Brilliant Builders starts with a conversation with DJ about what you want to live in, and he stays with the job from the first load of lumber to the last coat of finish. He plans the work, orders the materials, and keeps you posted as the lot turns into a block foundation, a green-sheathed frame, a trussed roof and, in the end, a finished house you can walk through.

One customer who has worked with Brilliant Builders on multiple projects describes the pattern as planning, ordering materials, then delivering the finished product. You choose the layout and the finishes, and DJ works through the details with you: the kitchen, the baths, the flooring, the rooms that make a house yours. Brilliant Builders builds in Youngstown, Canfield, New Castle and the towns around them, on both sides of the Ohio and Pennsylvania line.

The build, in order

One house, start to finish

These are real photos from a single Brilliant Builders new build. Follow the gold line from the first day on site to move-in.

  1. Stage 1

    Day one: lumber and foundation

The first hero tile above: lumber stacked on the gravel drive in front of a new block foundation, on a wooded hillside lot.

Every house starts as materials on the ground and a foundation to set them on.

  2. Stage 2

    Framed and wrapped

Green-sheathed house frame seen from the side, with a porch footing in the foreground
Rear corner of a green-sheathed frame under an overcast sky

Walls go up wrapped in green sheathing. One view is from the side at the porch footing, the other is a rear corner.

  3. Stage 3

    Roof and rough-in

Roof truss framing seen from above with trees beyond

Roof trusses are set and tied in, seen here from above. Plumbing and wiring go in behind the walls at this point.

  4. Stage 4

    Kitchen and baths

Kitchen island with pendant lights above and a stainless range behind

The kitchen takes shape around an island under pendant lights, with a stainless range on the back wall.

  5. Stage 5

    Rooms ready

Living room, bedroom, bath, laundry and kitchen, all finished. Pick a room in the room picker below.

Floors are down, trim is on and each room is ready for furniture.

  6. Stage 6

    Move-in

The finished two-story home with its white porch, from the air and from the drive. Then it is time to get the keys.

Open kitchen with white shaker cabinets, an island with stools, and the living room beyond

Kitchen

White shaker cabinets run around an island with stools, and the kitchen opens straight into the living room. Cooking and company share one open floor.

Open living and dining room with gray plank flooring

Living

The living and dining room share one open space with gray plank flooring running through. There are no walls to work around when it is time to arrange the furniture.

Bathroom with a navy double vanity, two round mirrors and brass fixtures

Bath

Two round mirrors hang over a navy double vanity finished with brass fixtures. It is a bath built for two people getting ready at the same time.

Bedroom with a ceiling fan and gray plank flooring

Bedroom

The bedroom carries the same gray plank floor and has a ceiling fan overhead. It is a calm, finished room, ready for a bed and a dresser.

Laundry room with white cabinets, a washer and a dryer

Laundry

White cabinets surround the washer and dryer in a room of its own. Having storage right next to the machines keeps supplies out of the rest of the house.

Questions

New home build questions, answered

What affects the cost of a new home build in Youngstown?

The cost of a new home build in Youngstown depends on the size and layout of the house, the site it sits on, the foundation, the roofline, and the finishes you choose in the kitchen and baths. Every house is different, so there is no single number. Request a quote and DJ will go through your plans with you and price what you actually want to build.

Do you build on my lot?

If you are planning a new home build in the Youngstown area, talk to us about your lot. Tell DJ where it is and what you have in mind, and he can tell you how Brilliant Builders can help. Photos of the site and any plans or sketches you already have make that first conversation more useful, so send them along with your quote request.

How long does a new home build in Youngstown take?

A new home build in Youngstown takes as long as the house needs, and several things set the pace: the size of the home, the weather during foundation and framing, how quickly materials arrive, and how many finish decisions are still open. We do not promise a date up front. Ask for a quote and DJ will talk through the stages and what could move the schedule for your plans.

Can I pick my own finishes?

Yes, choosing finishes is part of building a new home with Brilliant Builders in Youngstown. Cabinets, flooring, tile, vanities and fixtures are decisions you make along the way, and customers say DJ gives great suggestions when they are unsure of what they want. Bring photos or ideas to the first conversation and the choices get easier.

Which towns do you build new homes in around Youngstown?

Brilliant Builders builds new homes in Youngstown and across the Mahoning Valley, on both sides of the Ohio and Pennsylvania line. That includes Canfield, Boardman, Austintown, Warren and Niles in Ohio, and New Castle, Hermitage, Cranberry Township and Neshannock Township in Pennsylvania. If your town is close but not listed, ask DJ.
